University of Auckland Scholarship Selection Process

The application process for the scholarship involves several steps:

  1. Application Submission: Applications must be submitted to the Scholarships Office by the specified closing dates.
  2. Selection Committee Review: A Selection Committee assesses each application based on academic merit, the quality of the personal statement, and the endorsement provided by a referee.
  3. Final Award Decision: The University of Auckland Council awards the scholarship based on the Selection Committee’s recommendations.

Key Regulations and Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an international student holding an Indian passport.
  • Be living outside New Zealand at the time of application.
  • Have received a conditional or unconditional offer for full-time enrolment in an undergraduate degree, a PGDip, or a master’s program at the University of Auckland. This includes students from the English Language Academy (ELA) or those in the Summer Start International program.
  • Maintain a Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of at least 6.00, as assessed during the admissions process.

Students who have already begun their studies at the University of Auckland, except those in the Summer Start International program, are not eligible. Similarly, applicants who have previously pursued tertiary education in New Zealand or those enrolling in business master’s programs such as the Master of Applied Finance, Master of Business Analytics, or Master of Supply Chain Management are ineligible.

Applicants are encouraged to read the full scholarship regulations carefully to ensure eligibility. All applications must be submitted online, and applicants should complete all sections before the closing dates. The outcome is typically communicated about eight weeks after the deadline.

Additional Information and Conditions

The scholarship must be taken up in the semester it is awarded, unless there are exceptional circumstances, such as medical reasons. Any deferral requests will be considered by the Scholarships Office.

Awardees must remain enrolled full-time for at least two semesters at the University of Auckland.

The scholarship may be held concurrently with other awards, provided the regulations of those awards allow it, and the University of Auckland is informed.

Recipients who withdraw or do not complete at least two semesters of study may forfeit the scholarship.
